What does it mean to be an Indie Author? It means you do everything, lol. I’m loving the process, and so happy I went this route, but there are times you really feel the pressure to get it all right…and pub week is right up there in the #1 position! So, what am I doing this week?
- The inside look. Font is important…I had no idea how important! Changing the font or the font sizes changes the look drastically, that’s obvious…but it also changes the cover size and each change needs a new update from the cover artist. My cover artist is in France, so we’re working with a considerable time difference. I’m currently awaiting my cover I need to post TODAY for Friday’s release…and it’s getting later and later in France with no cover. Not her fault…this last minute stuff is all on me! Beginner probs.
- Proof copies. I’ve ordered several to see how the fonts look, and with each one I’ve requested a new cover. Not necessary! I didn’t realize it, but I can slap on a generic Amazon cover and just order it that way to test font sizes. Beginner probs.
- Social Media. Wow. There’s so much to learn about social media. Instagram I can do fairly well, Fb is pretty self-explanatory, TikTok is completely foreign to me but I’m trying…then there’s boosts, Amazon ads, blog posts, interactions. It’s a lot.
- Marketing. No one is going to market this book but me. It’s a lot.
- Fun. This is so much fun!! I don’t need to get rich off this first book. I don’t even need to make enough for a cup of coffee. I’m just learning, getting my first book out there, trying things out, and working on my next book!! Love this so much.
More than anything, I appreciate the support I’ve gotten from my friends, families, booktok friends, bookstagram friends, fb friends, and the lists goes on….so much!! Thank you for sharing this journey with me 🙂 Two more days!!
